HOSPITALITY DIVISIONS WITHIN PAM GOLDING PROPERTIES
The Pam Golding Property Group (PGP) has recognised the synergy between property, property developments and the hospitality industry since 1997. As South Africa's major property group, PGP has a number of specialised companies that together cover all aspects of the hospitality industry from consulting, hotels, guesthouses, lodges and game lodges to fractional ownership and restaurants.

Golding Hotel Investment Consultants
Golding Hotel Investment Consultants (GHIC) was formed by Joop Demes, a chartered accountant by trade, now regarded as Southern Africa's leading facilitator in the hospitality industry. As Financial Director of a Botswana based regional hotel group from 1987, he was instrumental in the group's growth from 5 to 18 hotels by 1997 when Peter Golding persuaded him to return to South Africa to form GHIC.

GHIC provides a wide variety of services to hotels owners, developers and operators in Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Region. "Our services are often compared to a niche and specialised merchant bank whereby clients provide some pieces of a puzzle" says Demes, "we source the missing pieces and complete the puzzle". GHIC assembles plans, consults and assists with developments, leases, acquisitions and funding for hospitality and leisure developments, including boutique hotels, resort hotels and game lodges. GHIC specialises in mixed usage developments including condominium (sectional title) hotels and fractional ownership in a hospitality environment.

GHIC has facilitated transactions and/or rendered consultations to a wide variety of national, regional and international clients, including:
Marriott Hotels, Intercontinental Hotels, Accor, Arabella, Starwood, Taj Hotels, NH Hoteles, Mövenpick, IFA, Kingdom Hotel Investments, Sun International Hotels, Southern Sun Hotels, Protea Hotels, Peermont, Mantis Collection, Morgan Stanley, Barclays Bank, Rand Merchant Bank Properties, Investec Bank and Absa Bank.

In 2007, Tourism Business Council South Africa requested the assistance of Demes to organise and co-host the Hospitality Investment Conference Africa ('HICA'), the first of its kind in South Africa. With GHIC, Demes has been responsible for transactions and deals well in excess of R3 billion over the last five to six years (May 2008) and he expects GHIC to continue to dominate the market place, having formed a number of further companies specialising in hospitality within PGP to assist in maintaining this dominance.

Pam Golding Tourism & Hospitality Consulting
Kamil Abdul-Karrim joined GHIC in August 2007. Kamil, with an Accounting and MBA background, held the position of Strategic Marketing Director for Southern Sun Hotel Interests, a leading operator of world renowned hotels

Through Kamil's involvement, GHIC's consulting services to the hospitality industry have considerably broadened and Pam Golding Tourism and Hospitality Consulting was formed with Kamil as Managing Director to offer a wider spectrum of services that now include:
Feasibility Studies
Business Plans
Marketing Strategy
Branding
Private Brand Evaluation
